Unless you live in Orlando or the surrounding areas, Walt Disney World is a place to vacation rather than a second home. If you're planning on visiting for the first time and you're coming from out of state, you'll want to get the best deal possible on your park tickets which give you access to Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom. You might want to head to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon if waterparks are your thing or head to the Disney's Boardwalk entertainment complex to eat out or shop.

Off-Season

One of the best ways of saving money on your park tickets is to go off-season. Florida has great weather all year round but there are still months which Disney considers "off-season". You'll save money if you go to Disney World from November through to mid-December but avoid Thanksgiving Week and you'll get in when the crowds and prices are low. The second week of January through mid-February is another cheap time to visit the parks. The cooler weather and the fewer guests will make the parks easier to navigate too.

You'll have heard of Park Hopper and Water Fun and More tickets if you've researched Disney World but do you need any of those things? As base tickets have FastPass+, you don't need to upgrade to anything extra. The FastPass+ system, which has been in operation since 1999, gets you through to rides quickly using a booking system. It's complimentary for all ticket holders who are allowed to select three FastPass rides per day so you could choose to avoid the crowds at Space Mountain or Pirates of the Caribbean.

Multi-day Tickets

Another way of saving cash is to visit the park over a few days. A multi-day pass works out cheaper per day than the one-day ticket. Although there's not really a massive saving to be made per ticket, if you're visiting with several family members, you'll save a lot of money overall. Another way to save cash is to buy from an authorized reseller. Tickets through an authorized reseller are just as good as those bought from the park as they can be posted to you or picked up at Disney World.

Military Discount

Disney does it's best to thank the brave men and women who serve our nation by offering them and their families discounts. You can get money off on Disney hotels so you can enjoy resort transportation, Extra Magic Hours and take advantage of the Disney dining plan. You'll typically find 30 to 40 percent discounts on room rates all year around. Discount park tickets tend to be four-day or five-day passes with Park Hopper included and they can be bought from Disney or from military bases.

Other Savings

There are no half-day ticket options at Walt Disney World so money can't be saved that way but maximizing the day is a way of getting the most for your money so don't get out of bed late and lazily make your way to the park. Each park has a different opening and closing time so be aware of each if you're planning on moving from one park to the other during a day. And don't go mad buying up every souvenir you see or you might end up spending more in the gift shops than you do on the day passes.
